Roslyn was founded in 1886 and was once a small coal mine boom town. At one time Roslyn contained some of the most extensive coal fields on the west coast, the last coal mine closed in the late 1960?s. Since that time, Roslyn has been center stage for the television show ?Northern Exposure?, on the National Historic Registry as a Historic District and a favorite stop for tourists. Roslyn is home to a very unique ethnic cemetery where you can get the story of Roslyn?s past. Many graves date back to before the turn of the century and reflect European heritage. Also a must see is the Coal Miners Museum and the Coal Miner Memorial. When you are finished shopping at the local shops, stop at Kittitas County?s only brewery, appropriately name the Roslyn Brewery.
